Kathryn Simons is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in New York State. She graduated with her MSW from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2006. Her experiences since then have shaped a belief that most problems and difficulties people struggle with stem from early childhood experiences. Kathryn uses components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with a compassionate, Person-Centered approach to foster hope that change is possible and help people find the confidence that they are more than their past experiences. Part of Kathryn’s enthusiasm for this work comes from her journey of overcoming a tendency to overreact in stressful situations. As the former CEO of Ugly Cryers Anonymous, she shapes her practice from a place of solidarity and partnership, with first-hand knowledge that the evidence-based tools and skills taught in session facilitate positive change. When not social working, Kathryn loves playing with her adorable but not that intelligent Goldendoodles, Olive and Obie, and spends a lot of time dreaming about and planning for her next trip.
