Mike Cotayo is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who received a Master’s in Social Work from New York University in 2000. A majority of his career has been spent working within the HIV/AIDS community as a social worker, advocate, community organizer, counselor and administrator. He specializes in personality disorders, using humor as a therapeutic tool, and trauma. As a trained Gestalt therapist Mike holds the belief that we are all greater than the sum of our parts, and in order to heal these parts we must work with our body, mind, and soul to obtain the answers that will help facilitate change. Psychotherapy is an individualized service plan that helps a person become more aware of their actions, and how it affects the way they may interact with the world.
When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us. ― Helen Keller
