Tai Johnson is a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. She is a first generation Nigerian-American born to Nigerian parents. Her love for mental health was sparked years ago as she discovered family members in her family struggling with various mental illnesses. She went on to discover a passion for nursing and for those who faced similar challenges. She attained her nursing degree at Howard University and later her Master of Science in Nursing at Regis College. In addition to psychiatry, she has worked in the emergency department, cardiovascular, and urgent care. She understands just how deeply parents and siblings are affected by loved ones afflicted with mental illness and has made it her mission to work alongside her community with an open mind in order to create a path of recovery and growth. She believes that it is the duty of licensed health care providers to educate, assess, diagnose, and treat the needs of those with mental illness to help them achieve their highest functional level of independence. Tai loves to spend time traveling with her spouse, watching horror movies with her twin sister, and reading WEBTOON comics when she finds time alone.
Mental health problems do not define who you are. They are something you experience. You walk in the rain and you feel the rain, but you are not the rain. - Matt Haig
