Self Compassion is the act of directing compassion towards oneself. It’s not uncommon for us to engage in acts of kindness toward others while forgetting to offer the same to ourselves. One may believe it to be “selfish” to take care of oneself, while at the same time, with some exploration, many find that they are able to offer more to others when they are coming from a place of feeling cared for! This may be an unfamiliar concept and may even feel strange at first, yet the current research shows that self-compassion can improve mental and physical wellbeing.
