Interpersonal Effectiveness: FAST

In the same way that it is important to respect other’s emotions, values, and beliefs, it is important to respect our own. We may find that in relationships, we sacrifice our own needs or betray our values to avoid conflict or get approval. Unfortunately, this often leads to feeling unsatisfied in the relationship and may even lead to resentment towards the other person, which can create future conflict. The acronym F.A.S.T. can be used to increase self-respect.
