Communicating what we need (safety, satisfaction, connection/intimacy, etc.) to others can be a tricky experience. The DEAR MAN acronym can be used as a guide to objectively express one’s needs and desires to others. This approach can increase the likelihood of getting one’s needs met in a relationship, while respecting the other person.
