Tonya Eaglin is originally from Lake Charles, La. She holds a Master's in Psychological Counseling from Nicholls State University. Tonya has specialized training in Marital and Family Therapy from California School of Professional Psychology- San Diego Campus. She is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern with the State of Florida. She has worked 8 years in correctional mental health and has over 10 years’ experience with children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral disorders. Her main passion is marital and family therapy ranging from premarital/couples therapy, divorce counseling family conflict. Tonya also has vast experience in health psychology, weight loss, women's health issues, LGBTQ community and immigration cases.
Tonya creates a warm and genuine therapeutic environment for her clients. Her approach to therapy is systemically based, cognitive behavioral and post-modern therapy focusing on an existential approach. Tonya's uses various evidence- based techniques to meet the needs of the client. When approaching families, Tonya's approach is that for the client to exhibit positive change, the family subsystem has to change also.
Tonya is a professional member of the American Counseling Association, American Association of Marital and Family Therapist, and American Association of Black Psychologists.
