I am so glad you decided to find out what Cerebral and I might have to offer. I know that it's often scary to seek out help so you are taking a good step toward feeling better. For more than 35 years I have been working with people facing many different life challenges such as chronic illness, pain or disability, life transitions such as going to college, getting married, starting a family, breaking up, achieving work/life balance, dealing with aging parents, or facing grief and loss. In addtion, I've treated numerous people suffering with anxiety, depression, trauma reactions, and bipolar disorder, as well as many other mental health or alcohol and drug issues. I've also worked with people who are just wanting to put the spring back in their step and focus on improving their sense of health and wellness and/or spirituality, so I work with them in managing emotions like anger and loneliness, or help with stress management and learning to relax and develop mindfulness skills.
My clinical approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy along with Solutions Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, all of which focus on helping you identify troublesome thoughts and behaviors which lead to the painful feelings and situations, learn to change those thoughts which leads to more pleasant feelings, and then build on day to day successes (rather than endlessly analyzing problems) to accomplish goals that you identify. I look forward to hearing your unique story and helping you get where you want to go.
The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination. Carl Rogers
