ABOUT Maya Salinas

Maya Salinas holds a Master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. As a mother and public school educator, Maya has first-hand knowledge of the impact that daily stressors may have on a person’s mental health. Witnessing coworkers endure anxiety, depression, and negative self-perception due to work life demands while balancing family and life is what motivated her to learn coping mechanisms for these mental health issues. Maya’s experience includes counseling children, adults, and couples. She believes counseling is a collaborative, holistic process and encourages her clients to utilize positive mental skills such as positive self-talk, reframing, and goal setting. She used Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) daily with clients to aid in coping mechanisms. Maya strives to educate those around her on the importance of self-care for their mental health and wellness. In her free time, she enjoys running, reading self-help books, traveling, and spending time with her two daughters and husband.
