Karla Barr is an associate licensed counselor who received her Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from John Brown University. Karla has experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person Centered Therapy, Mindfulness and is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She enjoys working with different ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, and religious backgrounds with issues related to trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, adjustment, and stress. She believes everyone could benefit from counseling and is deserving of being treated with dignity and respect; of being heard and seen when making the decision to share their story.
Providing a safe, nonjudgmental environment, Karla believes the client is their own expert and she utilizes this expertise to develop rapport and facilitate the therapeutic relationship. She is fluent in Spanish and English and has seen firsthand how hindering a language barrier can be. She is passionate about helping and guiding people to become the best and healthiest version of themselves.
In her free time, Karla enjoys reading, yoga, traveling, the outdoors, good food, and spending time with friends and family.
Karla is currently provisionally licensed in the state of Arkansas, under the supervision of Dr. Michael Flowers, LPC-S.
