Joel Cruz, LMSW, is a New York State Licensed Master of Social Work. He received his BA in Psychology and English at Brooklyn College and his MSW from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. Throughout the non-profit sector, he has worked with youth, adults, and families on a range of issues including anxiety, depression, life stressors, interpersonal conflicts, and trauma. He uses an integrated psychotherapeutic approach that incorporates components of cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and motivational interviewing. While working collaboratively with clients, he welcomes individuals to share their story unapologetically and unpack their life experiences. He offers an affirming, safe space for people who identify as a POC and/or LGBTQIA+ to explore their identities holistically and deconstruct their own narrative within a larger system.
