Denise Mason, MSW. LCSW, LISW-CP is a licensed clinical social worker who completed her undergraduate education at Hampton University with a Bachelors of Arts in 1995. She attended Norfolk State University’s Graduate School of Social Work in 2000, concentrating in family systems practice. Denise has been a therapist for over 15 years with degrees in psychological and clinical social work. She specializes in mood and adjustment disorders: such as depression and anxiety as well as trauma associated disorders. She has also worked with a variety of disorders dealing with but not limited to behavioral issues, relationship issues, grief and loss, stress management and different life adjustments. She works with adults, couples and families and enjoys working with people where she can bring her genuine self to the work that she does. She is honest, open and direct, but warm and encouraging at the same time. She loves to see the humor in different situation where some might not expect. She believes humor can work in therapy when needed. She provides support from the initial session and throughout the entire counseling experience. She is here to work with you to get you to the life that you want for yourself and your loved ones. She incorporates goal setting for your mental health, personal and professional life. Her therapeutic approach is client centered and combines cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and stages of change as therapeutic interventions that will help you with issues you struggle with. Her purpose is to help you stop surviving so that you can start living.
