ABOUT Carrie King

Carrie King is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Texas and is supervised by Dr. Keith Franklin, LPC-S. Carrie received her Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Texas at Austin and her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from St Marys University. She believes therapy is a collaborative process where she and the patient create a strong therapeutic relationship based on empathy, trust, and support. She knows that patients are the experts in their lives; therefore, her goal is to work with the patient in developing new skills, establishing realistic and specific goals, and fostering healthy relationships with self and others. While she mainly utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, she also draws from other theories to tailor an approach that will best help each individual patient. These include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Existential Therapy. She enjoys working with a wide range of concerns such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity formation, eating disorders, and phase of life transitions. In her free time, Carrie enjoys running, yoga, time with loved ones, cooking, and painting.

You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it. - Maya Angelou
