Alison Payne is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and National Certified Counselor. She is supervised by Leigh Rainwater, LPC Supervisor. She received her Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Spanish from Midwestern State University.
Alison focuses on creating a trusting, respectful, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel safe, accepted, and heard. An essential part of her work with clients is helping them to normalize their experiences and to identify and access internal strengths and resources that they already carry within themselves. She is experienced in a variety of therapeutic approaches and primarily uses techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Strengths-Based Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Informed Care. Alison has over 10 years of experience in the behavioral health field working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, insomnia, bipolar disorder, psychosis, post traumatic stress disorder, substance use disorders, and personality disorders in outpatient community behavioral health centers as well as inpatient psychiatric facilities.
In her free time, Alison enjoys being active, hiking, fishing, exploring nature, traveling, listening to music, watching movies, and spending time with her children.
