ABOUT Alan Garrison

Alan Garrison is a ninth-generation Georgia native, earned three academic degrees from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Georgia. He has counseled a variety of populations including children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families over his career and served as Medical Staff at the 1996 Atlanta Centennial Olympics. He has also been faculty at a number of universities, has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in counseling and therapy, and has been staff at several university counseling centers. Dr. Garrison has presented 24 professional papers at the state, regional, and national levels in the areas of mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, and forensics with a focus on the effectiveness of treatment. While having practiced for years in large metropolitan areas, he now resides in rural Georgia where he designed and was the general contractor for his home. He has a life-long interest in music and has performed both instrumentally and vocally in many university-affiliated bands, orchestras, and choruses. He values being of assistance to others in clarifying and achieving their goals in life and looks forward to aiding you as well.
