ABOUT Tracy Genovese

Tracy Genovese MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC is an ANCC board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. She is so excited to be joining the incredible team at Cerebral! Tracy has dedicated her entire nursing career to working with the underserved. She earned her associate in applied science degree (RN) from Waubonsee Community College in twenty twelve. Thereafter began working at a safety-net hospital for the underserved in East Chicago. During her seven-year career in East Chicago she cared for the sickest of the sick via ambulatory surgery, recovery room, endoscopy, and behavioral health. During this time, she earned a bachelor’s in nursing (BSN) from Purdue University Northwest. My interest in psychiatry became more apparent after caring for so many individuals with unmet mental health needs. This led her to pursue my master’s in nursing at Regis College where she graduated with honors in twenty two thousand and twenty. Immediately after graduation Tracy decided to relocate to the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) to care for/learn from the most severely mentally ill patients in a community mental health setting. During her time in the USVI she was able to care for patients from surrounding islands, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and South America. This was a truly life-changing experience for her. Tracy is thrilled to be in private practice now and is honored to work with patients in all walks of life. Tracy is a proud supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community. She enjoys working with individuals from varied cultures, races, and socio-economic backgrounds. Tracy's treatment modality involves individually tailored psychoeducation as well as shared decision-making. Goal setting and psychotherapy are integrated into each patient's visit. It is paramount to consider each patient as an individual and to address and incorporate their physical, emotional, and general health needs. Tracy love's flamingos, warm-weather, kayaking, and spending time with family and friends. She loves to make people laugh and loves connecting with every one of her patients.
