Renette Casseus-Dametas is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. She started her career working as a Mental Health Therapy Aid in a Mental Health Hospital at the age of 21. Renette went to complete her Registered Nursing Degree and worked in intensive care Hospitals in NY and NJ. She then went on to receive a Master of Science in Nursing while working as a Mental Health Community Nurse. She worked in many diverse areas including inpatient, outpatient, detox, and Psychiatry.
She had the opportunity to enhance her cultural competency through her encounters with consumers. Being culturally aware helps her to work in collaboration with clients and families to find alternative options as well as identify the consequences. Her mission is to continue to incorporate cultural competency and ethical sensitivity in her professional practice by conducting an ongoing cultural assessment. Her focus is to deliver treatment to consumers in their natural living settings rather than in the hospital or clinic settings. During her free time, you can find her in The Gym, Kayaking or swimming.
