ABOUT Ramatu D. Jalloh

Ramatu Jalloh is a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, who graduated top of her class as a member of both Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the National Society of Leadership Success. She started her career by obtaining experience as a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse, before switching to her specialty in psychiatry. Ramatu then became a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse and has been one for the past four years. She then went on to receive a Master of Science in Nursing as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. While awaiting the start of her new career as a provider, she accepted the position of Clinical Nursing Educator for psychiatry at the hospital she has been working at for the last 5 years.

She has experience dealing with a diverse population of patients with disorders that range from depression to schizophrenia. Her training experiences in both state run facilities and public hospitals, have further fueled her passion to provide patient centered and quality mental health care to all she encounters. In her spare time, she loves to cook and spend quality time with her family. She hopes to one day compile a cookbook of all her mother and grandmother’s recipes.

You don’t have to be positive all the time. It’s perfectly okay to feel sad, angry, annoyed, frustrated, scared and anxious. Having feelings doesn’t make you a negative person. It makes you human. — Lori Deschene
