Dr. Martha Ochako is a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner whose own experience with postpartum depression sparked her passion for Psychiatric and Mental Health. She has a virtual forum through which she presents an awareness of depression, anxiety, and other mental health aspects to immigrant women to alleviate the stigma of mental health.
Martha completed her Registered Nursing, Master entry-level, from Metropolitan State University, MN, and has worked in different mental health settings. Her last appointment as a triage nurse at a metropolitan Behavioral Health Urgent Care exposed her to the vast need for access to affordable, mental health care in this country.
Because she wanted to give more to Psychiatry and Mental Health, she completed a post-master PMHNP certification from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, Utah in 2021. Also, she has a Doctorate in Health Science (D.H.Sc.) from Nova SE University, Florida.
In her free time, you can find her playing tennis with her teenage boys, composing Swahili cultural music, singing, or reading.
