Bio

Ms. Hunter is a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner in the state of Michigan. She spent 25 years working in pediatrics including the emergency department, schools, health clinics and mobile clinics. She then went on to complete her Master’s of Science in Nursing at Wayne State University with a focus in psychiatric mental health. Ms. Hunter is board certified through ANCC. Ms. Hunter has worked in many areas of psychiatry including subacute detox, inpatient psychiatry, community mental health, inpatient pediatric psychiatry liaison, university counseling center and most recently at a telehealth outpatient organization. Ms. Hunter provides person centered care, putting the patient's interests at the forefront of the treatment plan. In her practice there is a primary focus on autonomy, respect, relationships and understanding how one's environment will have an impact on goals and progress. She is passionate about removing stigma and focusing on health disparities in marginalized populations. In her spare time she can be found relaxing with her four children and grandchildren and spoiling her maltipoo, Lucy. Ms. Hunter is involved in her local National Alliance on Mental Illness chapter to advocate for policy changes which will, in time, eliminate systemic and social barriers that those with mental illness and their families face.
