Karen Smith is a board-certified nurse practitioner. She started her career in the healthcare field delivering food to hospitalized patients at age 18. She then became a phlebotomist, nurse assistant, and registered nurse in the hospital setting including surgery and cardiology. Exploring outpatient areas such as home health and telehealth allowed her to not only serve patients throughout all settings but also focus on barriers to care.
She received her Master of Science in Nursing to become a Nurse Practitioner. Her practice has included primary care, women’s health, and mental health. She is passionate about patient education, especially focusing on the mind/body connection with mental health and removing the stigma of treatment.
In her free time, she enjoys photography, learning to sail on her new boat, hiking, and songwriting.
