Itisha Bowen is board certified as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner as well as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
She started her career as licensed practical nurse on an inpatient psychiatric unit. Itisha continued her education completing bachelor’s degree in nursing. As registered nurse she worked and honed her craft. She gaining experience and knowledge in the various specialty areas with nursing. Her experience spans across all age ranges in both inpatient and out patient area inclusive of the intensive care units, psychiatric inpatient units , psychiatric emergency and medical emergency medicine.
Itisha went on to complete a Masters of Science in nursing administration and worked as Adjunct professor at her alma mater Long Island University. She also worked as adjunct nursing professor at Downstate university’s accelerated nursing program as psychiatric clinical instructor .
Her initial introduction to psychiatry was at a VA hospital on inpatient units where she cross trained in general psychiatry and dual diagnosis populations ( psychiatric and substance use disorders). Here is where her passion for proving quality mental health care was ignited and cultivated. In her free time Itisha enjoys being outside experiencing nature. She enjoys spending time with friends and family and enjoying the little things.
