Dr. Ekaete Lawal is a board-certified nurse practitioner. She originally attended Long Island University, Brooklyn where she graduated with Bachelor of Science in Nursing. While working in medicine-surgical units in a major New York City municipal hospital, she completed her Master of Science in Nursing, with subspecialty as Family Nurse Practitioner, graduated from SUNY-Downstate. She has worked in many diverse areas including Peri-op Medicine, Addiction Medicine, Psychiatry, Community Health and Preventive Medicine. While working as an Advance Practice Nurse, she continued to develop her interest in Psychiatry and focused in Addiction Medicine. She returned to New York University to complete her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in 2016 and later obtained her Advance Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Pace University. She has keen interested in dual diagnoses- substance use and mental health. During her clinical rotation, she had immersed experience treating bipolar depression, bipolar mania, mania, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, ADHD, borderline personality disorder. Dr. Lawal is clinically driven with a focus on Medication-assisted Treatment (MAT) which she uses evidence-based practice approach to treat patients.
Ekaete is an active member of American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
