Dr. Colin Aminkeng, DNP, PMHNP is a graduate of the University of Alabama Huntsville, with a doctorate of nursing practice in psychiatry. Dr. Aminkeng is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner. Dr. Aminkeng, also attended University of Wilmington, Delaware for undergraduate studies in Nursing and Walden University for graduate studies in Mental health. Dr. Aminkeng, has over 13 years in the field of mental health, working in both inpatient, crisis center, outpatient services, and jail diversion with commitment to offering holistic care to individuals and families. His interest primarily is the field of using motivational interviewing in promoting medication adherence among adult patients with severe mental illness. Other areas of focus include management of patients with opioid use disorder, alcohol abuse, and stimulant abuse. In addition to Dr. Aminkeng’s clinical work, he is a passionate activist in the area of fighting social stigma that comes with mental illness. Dr. Aminkeng, strives to use his clinical practice and volunteer work in mental health to improve health outcomes for people living with serious mental illness. Other areas of interest include: Playing soccer, traveling, biking, and hiking.
