Carmen Chatten is a board - certified nurse practitioner. She started her career working as a nursing assistant at a local nursing home at the age of 16. She then went on to complete first her LPN degree followed by her RN degree in 2003 at NC A&T State University. As a registered nurse, Carmen spent most of her career in emergency medicine. She even had an opportunity to work at several emergency room locations on the east coast as a travel nurse. Wanting to have greater autonomy to provide care, she completed a Masters in Science in Nursing in 2011. As result of this training she has worked in many diverse areas including dermatology, women's health, preventative medicine, urgent care and weight loss management. Due to her work experiences, Carmen has noted poor access to health care across the spectrum. Her passion, at this point in her career, is to be part of a team that provides access to affordable, quality mental health care regardless of a person's background, social class or education. In her free time she enjoys personal fitness, cooking, tending to her garden, and home improvement projects.
