Afokoghene Odhu is a board-certified nurse practitioner. He started his career working as a nursing assistant in a psychiatric inpatient and medical/surgical floor. Afokoghene went on to complete his bachelor's in nursing and worked in one of the most renowned hospitals and several hospitals in Grand Rapids, Michigan caring for patients who suffer from mental health, and medical/surgical patients. Because of his quest to provide exceptional care, Afokoghene then went on to receive his doctorate degree in nursing practice and serves as research assistance and thereafter adjunct faculty to coach and mentor students. He has worked in many diverse areas including medical/surgical/orthopedic, psychiatric, medically complex, preventative medicine, TBI, and Strokes, providing both inpatient and outpatient services.
Afokoghene training experiences in primary care clinic affiliated with a large not-for-profit health care system, located in an underserved urban community in the Midwest, caring for diverse patient population including immigrants, those with limited resources/access to care, and his strong desire to restore hope and freedom to patients have ignited a passion to provide access to affordable, quality mental health care no matter where a patient may be located. In his free time, enjoys cooking, playing chess and ping-pong with his son, and having enjoyable time with his family.
