Abelina Maldonado is a board-certified nurse practitioner. She started her career in mental health over 25 years ago when she joined the U.S Navy at the age of 18. Abelina went on to complete an Associate Degree in Nursing and worked in medical-surgical and psychiatric care throughout the country, as well as Okinawa, Japan and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. She then went on to receive a Master of Science in Nursing in Advanced Practice as a Registered Nurse. Abelina’s training experiences in both urban and rural areas ignited her passion to help bridge the gap between access to and affordability of quality mental health care. Being a veteran herself, she understands firsthand the importance of gaining access to services without having to wait through backlogs at the VA or community care. In her free time, you can find Abelina traveling. She recently traveled to Aruba, Jamaica, Arizona, and Florida. She frequently travels to Mexico and the Bay Area to visit her family and is extremely excited to travel with her niece to Dubai at the end of the year.
