ABOUT Ilana Cowen

Ilana Cowen received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002 and has been working as a therapist ever since. When Ilana was younger she was severely bullied and ultimately triumphed with the help of therapists; this made Ilana decide to assist others the way she was encouraged. Through her many years of experience, she has found that the most effective counseling comes from a team approach, where the client serves as team leader. She utilizes a combination of different therapeutic techniques, including meditation and strengths-based perspectives to assist people in improving their moods. She believes humor is a great tool, especially in the times of Covid and Ilana incorporates it into her practice. Ilana believes that the telephonic model enables people to access mental healthcare in a timely manner maximizing their potential for feeling better. In her free time, she can often be found playing with string (knitting, crocheting, etc.) while watching comedies and superhero shows/movies, spending time with friends and family, and reading fictional books.
