Retta Soogoff was born and raised in southern California and recently relocated to North Carolina. She holds a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Vanguard University of Southern California, is a Therapist, an Associate Licensed Clinical Counselor (APCC) and holds a certification as a drug and alcohol counselor (CADC II).
Her passion for mental health and wellness result from her firsthand experience growing up in a home with mental illness in the family and experiencing the devastation of that dynamic, launched Retta’s passion for the healing arts.
Retta offers over 15 years’ experience, working with co-occurring disorders at some of the premier hospitals in Southern California. Her skill-set includes; Trauma-informed Care (TIC), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
Retta strives to promote personal healing, growth and the implementation of advanced coping skills with each client she treats, emphasizing and modeling, change is possible.
In her free time, she enjoys exploring new surroundings, being in nature (hiking trails, mountains) or near water (beach, lakes), shopping, spa days, dining, and reading.
