Heather is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (in MO) with a Master’s in Public Health & Social Work from Saint Louis University, specializing in Medical Social Work. Heather is both a Certified Telemental Health Provider and a Certified Trauma Professional. She has worked in a variety of settings including people’s homes, nursing homes, clinics, and hospitals to ensure the needs of both the patients and their families are being met during a time of turmoil and crisis via Trauma Informed Care. Heather’s focus has been facilitating difficult discussions in a manner that is calm and productive, as well as caring for the caregiver, and grief work. We know our mind/body better than any other person and we can be both our best advocate and our own worst enemy; the counselor is present to help the client identify their own strengths in order to start the healing journey. Heather facilitates this via Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy or Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, based on the needs of the client while utilizing active listening with empathy, validation of feelings, and education. Heather enjoys spending her free time traveling with family, playing with her dog and children, reading, hiking, and doing anything related to water!
