ABOUT Alexis Curry

Alexis holds a Master’s degree in Education and Counseling from CUNY Hunter College. Growing up in an urban community, Alexis has first hand knowledge of the socioeconomic disparities, stigma, and provider bias and inequality of care as it relates to Mental Health. While the experience managing Mental Health varies tremendously, there are shared factors that play a role in helping define mental health and supporting well-being, resiliency and healing. Alexis believes part of this shared experience — family connections, values, expression through spirituality or music, reliance on community networks — are enriching and can be great sources of strength and support. Alexis's experience includes working with individuals and families living with depression, anxiety, and trauma. She also provides school-based counseling for a Charter School in Brooklyn. She focuses on a strengths-based therapeutic approach to promote self-love and growth. Modalities used in treatment may include CBT, person centered therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions. Alexis has a passion for helping individuals, families and children develop emotional wellness. She believes everyone should have a safe and healing place to work through life's difficulties.

In her free time Alexis enjoys shopping, traveling, spending time with her family and her three Godchildren ages 6mo, 2yrs, and 6yrs.

You don't have to struggle in silence. You can be un-silent. You can live well with a mental health condition, as long as you open up to somebody about it. - Demi Lovato
